Our most challenging project: How we met the challenge

Appliance repair can be a simple task or a true challenge that requires creativity and skill. At Appliance Repair Service in Edmonton, we encounter a variety of malfunctions, but there are some projects that are memorable for their complexity and uniqueness. We would like to share one such case in this article to show how professionalism and perseverance help us tackle the toughest challenges.

Task: Repair of a combined appliance

A customer came to us with a request to repair a combination appliance that included a refrigerator, freezer and wine cabinet. This model, purchased over 15 years ago, was rare and no longer in production. The unit had stopped working and it was important to the client to keep it not only because of its functionality, but also because of its unique design that matched the interior perfectly.

Major problems:

  1. Faulty compressor. Cooling in both chambers has stopped completely.
  2. Failure in the electronic control. Control panel no longer responds to commands.
  3. Worn door seals. This led to cold air leakage.
  4. Aging of the body. There were signs of corrosion and scuffs on the outer surface.

Approach to solving the problem

Working on such a device required an unconventional approach, as it combined three functions and utilized outdated technology. We divided the process into several steps.

1. Diagnostics and disassembly.

The first step was to fully diagnose the unit. We thoroughly examined each chamber and cooling system to understand the degree of wear and tear and identify hidden problems. The unit was then disassembled into its individual components.

2. Compressor Replacement.

Since the original compressor was no longer in production, we selected a modern equivalent with similar capacity. The unit required fine tuning to ensure the compressor ran smoothly.

3. Restoration of the control panel.

The electronic board had a lot of damage. We replaced several components and reprogrammed the control system, preserving all the original functions of the unit.

4. Installation of new gaskets.

We custom made the gaskets to fit the doors of the unit perfectly. This allowed us to restore the airtightness of the chambers.

5. Exterior Upgrade.

We treated the housing with special agents to remove traces of corrosion, then repainted it in its original color, preserving the aesthetic integrity of the design.

Obstacles in the way

One of the main challenges was the lack of original spare parts. We were faced with having to make parts by hand or search for analogs that could replace obsolete components.

In addition, customizing a modern compressor to fit an older cooling system required a lot of testing and calibration to avoid overloading and ensure stable operation of the unit.

Result: fully restored device

After several weeks of operation, the unit was fully restored. All its functions, including the refrigerator compartment, freezer and wine cabinet, worked perfectly. The control panel responded smoothly and the new compressor provided even cooling.

The customer was especially pleased that the appearance of the unit remained the same as the day of purchase. In addition, the upgraded components extended the life of the unit by several years.
