Day 1 – Perth to Geraldton

Your journey starts with a five-hour drive to Geraldton, leaving Perth behind and heading towards beautiful national parks, stunning landscapes, and great photo opportunities. At this point of your trip, we recommend stopping and seeing:

  • The Pinnacles Desert in Geraldton’s Nambung National Parl
  • The Leaning Trees along the road to Geraldton

Day 2 – Geraldton to Kalbarri

A shorter two-hour drive awaits you today, which gives you plenty of time to explore the road to Kalbarri. As you stop, take advantage of walking trails, stunning views, and beautiful colours. We recommend stopping at:

  • Pink Lake – to see pink-coloured water and stunning views
  • Kalbarri National Park – where you see views of the Murchison River

Day 3 – Kalbarri to Shark Bay

You have a longer four-hour drive today to Shark Bay. Now is the time to stop and enjoy local beaches and seaside towns, sampling seafood and exploring small boutique shops. Make time for:

  • Shell Beach for a dip in the ocean and see the only beach in the world covered in shells
  • Denham to enjoy swimming beaches, seafood restaurants, and a golf course

Day 4 – Rest Day

Enjoy a rest day at Francois Peron National Park, where you can explore many beautiful spots, including sandy beaches and swimming holes. You can also find campgrounds to stop here and plenty of BBQ spots near the Big Lagoon.

Day 5 – Shark Bay to Coral Bay

It’s time for a long five-hour and thirty-minute drive to Coral Bay, allowing you to enjoy even more beaches on your journey to Broome. You have plenty of opportunities to pull over and explore, too, including:

  • Monkey Mia, where you can enjoy wildflowers and wild dolphins
  • Coral Bay Beach – where you can enjoy water sports and see the sunset

  • Turquoise Bay to enjoy reef sharks, turtles, and plenty of fish
  • Mandu Mandu Gorge for a stunning walking trail that shows you plenty of wildlife

Day 8 – Exmouth to Karijini

You have a long eight-hour drive ahead of you today, so make sure you pull over for regular rest. There is a visitor centre and places to grab snacks and other essentials for the rest of your trip.

Karinjini National Park will take up the next chunk of your road trip. You will travel 1500km to this park, with plenty of opportunities to stop and enjoy fantastic walking trails and beauty spots.
